Why do Rottweilers have white on their chest?
So let’s talk about the hereditary origins of white spots, research shows that these white spots goes way back to when Bernese mountain dogs and Swiss mountain dogs were cross bred with mastiffs to change certain features and characters of Rottweiler’s to reach the ideal Rottweiler that was in mind during that specific time period. These genetics emerge every couple of generations, only reminding us of the history of one of the oldest living dog breeds - showing the long way they’ve come. Even though some might think and even state it is a sign of poor breeding- this is truly not the case.
What does these white spots mean for kennel club’s and showing with Rottweiler’s ? According to the ANKC, they permit these Rottweiler’s to be registered on limited register but don’t allow them into the showring, or to be bred from.

Keep in mind that this is what ensures that if you buy a Rottweiler from a Von Malok registered breeder, your Rottweiler is purebred and their parents have gone through numerous health tests. Decreasing the chance of certain health issues enormously. So if your Von Malok pup has a white spot one them; rest assured that they are definitely not crossbred, and makes no difference to them being a loving and loyal family pet- they are actually quite unique and carry history.
